About Me As An Editor
I've worked on a lot of different projects, with an emphasis on romance novels (historical, paranormal, urban fantasy, erotica--nothing is off limits). I've also worked with many types of authors, from self-published to traditionally published. I want to help you get your manuscript as clean, polished, crisp, and professional as possible.
Services & Rates
If you are a new client of Dragonslayer Editing, you may wish to submit a 5 to 10 page sample of your work. This will allow you to review my work, and help me determine the level of edits that may work best for you.
My rates are generally hourly, rather than by page or word. (This is negotiable based on your needs.) Most novel-length manuscripts (80-100K words) take me between ten and twelve hours, but if your book is a 150K epic fantasy, it will obviously take longer to review than a category romance half its length.

Proofreading (secondary/galley edit), $35/hr
This is an MS that has already been copy edited (by your publisher, for example), but at the final galley stage you would like another set of eyes to review it. Galley reviews are generally on a tight deadline, and I may not always be able to take them on depending on how full my schedule already is.
Copy editing, basic $40/hr
The MS is essentially very clean and merely needs a basic review in order to catch typos, grammatical problems, punctuation errors, and the like. I ensure that text conforms to standard rules of grammar and any publishing house guidelines are followed (if provided).
Copy editing, heavy $45/hr
The MS has a fairly high level of grammatical or factual errors which require considerable time and effort to correct.
Developmental editing, $50/hr
Substantive edits: feedback on plot, character, story elements, pacing, etc.
If you want me to work on your project for more than one editing pass, please let me know, and we can work out a discount.
